It's so true. I got into an argument recently where the other person was rude and I told him off, but later wished I had just said nothing and let the absurdity of his statement ring into silence and be heard longer. I think by responding I distracted from his inappropriate words.

Very much so. I think a lot of people would benefit by learning that a little silence can go a long way, as opposed to endless monologues and dry chit-chat.

* the bible verse that says..Even a Fool is considered wise when he keeps his mouth shut, and..
*Never Miss a good chance to shut-up!

Depends on the situation.
When someone tells me a racist joke I just look at them and don't smile.
But when my neighbour was beating up his wife I called the cops.
