New York City. I grew up in NYC. Have spent some time in Hollywood as well, and it's very different. I enjoyed it, but it isn't the same -actually Los Angeles is very spread out but Hollywood is just a small part of it. New York is spread over 5 boroughs, all of which are part of NYC so I'd have a lot more choice of where to live. Culturally New York is the best place to be (even though I don't quite concur with Woody Allen's assessment that the only cultural advantage LA has is that you can make a right turn on red). There are some things about Hollywood/LA that are nice (like the fact that you can go sunbathing on the beach in January), but even in winter, NYC would be the place I'd want to live.

New York City. Hollywood reminds me of a desert. There's much action in NYC 24/7 and all the buses, trains, subways, and cabs also run 24/7.
