Well when I was a boy, I used to take vacations to my parents home country (The Dominican Republic). There wasn't any running water being an undeveloped third world country and all, so the way we flushed the toilet was to pour a bucket full of water that we got from the community sprinkler into the toilet.

We were lucky though, most of the people in that slum had to share latrines. I had to use one once, believe me when I tell you that it was not a pleasant experience.

Well to flush your "doodie" down imediately, take the top off the tank and lift the flapper valve (it should have a chain attached to it). Be sure to watch the flapper during the flush and allow it to close again without trapping the chain under it. Then run down to the hardware store and buy a replacement lever and install.

Do one of two things.

1) Lift off the top of the tank, and with your hand (gloved) pull the chain up manually. That should force it to flush. Then call someone to fix the handle

2) Take a large quantity of water in a pail and pour it into the toilet directly from the pail. This should force whatever is in their down. If it is really bad you might need to use a plunger.

Go to any hardware store and purchase a new tank lever.....remember that the threads on all tank levers are left handed threads........if the old one has a metal nut holding it on...be very careful when taking it off for you could break the tank.......be patient with it eventually it will come off

because of the ridiculous idea to save water by reducing the amount used to flush toilets, everyone flushes twice. I hold the handle down until the flush is completed
