I contacted the place because I think that the step is a public safety concern. My ? is should I contact a lawyer if it turns out that my knee is worse than a basic sprain?... I go to get an MRi tomorrow, and to my doc for results on Thurs... I did this just a week ago. Thanks.

Yes, I got help when the security people saw that i was limping and i told them i fell. I got 2 ice packs, and even used the downstairs bathroom after that, cause I couldn't walk. Several people also saw me get carried out, and I did notify the E/R of where I was at.

Did you say any thing to the people at the event, were there any witnesses, were there medics called to the site, were you taken to E/R by medics?
If none of these things took place you don't stand much of a chance suing them.
If there is any thing that backs up that you were hurt there, you may have a case. If so call a lawyer. If not call a lawyer & he might well tell you that there isn't much he can do.
