Depends on how big the hole is. If it is bigger than an A5 peice of paper it may be better buying a whole new door. Otherwise you could get a peice of cardboard that is slightly bigger than the whole and put a peice of string through the centre so that it has a little pull rope on it. Then put in through the hole into the door cavity and pull it tight against the door. Use plasterboard putty to ptach over the cardboard and wait until it is perfectly dry. Cut the string off at the putty base and put a tiny little bit more putty over where the string was. Wait again until that dries and then sand to smooth, then repaint.

Hollow core doors are not that expensive. You should be able to replace it for under $50 if you don't remove the jamb. To replace the jamb and door it will cost you between $50 and $80. There really is no good way to repair the door without it being noticeable. I am a professional remodeler and haven't found any way to fix them.

you can patch it with the correct product and with the greatest of patience, but if you have to ask this question your skill level will be absolutely lacking and the bottom line is IT WILL BE NOT ONLY NOTICEABLE, BUT OBVIOUS!Sorry but thats the truth.
