When people don't come to work and you know that the excuse they have made is crap.
One of my girls called in sick today because she has period pain, I'm sorry but i don't find that a good excuse as I am a woman and I have 11 other women that work for me and none of us take the day off because of perioud pain.

If someone is off all of us have to work back to cover the shift, so my other girls get annoyed as well

All depends on how much of an impact they have on the rest of those at work. I know in my job we have a small staff and 1 person calling in sick is a dramatic increase in workload. However, if its not a major issue and the workplace can miss that one person then its not to bad.
Afterall they are the ones loosing their sick/vacation pay and if people really know whats up some respect from their co-workers.
So, in the end if you can make it through the day without them then that shows those there are dedicated and can do their jobs.

Some girls have way worst period pains..headaches,vomiting..so she may have really needed the day off. I would tell her to go see a doctor and bring a doctor's excuse, if its that bad where she cant come to work

Yes, it can be very annoying. I am a nurse at a school, before I had this job it was hard for me to relate to mentrual pain that bad. But, some women have ovarian cysts which can make period pain extreme and some girls faint or throw up from it. This is usually when they are young and not very regular yet.

She needs to stop the excuses. If the period pain is bad enough that she can't work, then she needs to go to a doctor. If she refuses to go to a doctor, then she needs to find another job. If this is enough to make her go to the doctor, give her the benefit of the doubt, but demand proof she went to the doctor, and in writing what the doctor said - this is your right as her employer, you have the right to know about any existing medical conditions that may affect her performance in her job.

i get annoyed when people use their period as an excuse to take time off .....but to be truthful if she felt anything like i did the last time then she should be excused as I was in agony and took the day of myself, and we had the QA lady coming in that day!
Tell her to come in and if she cannot cope you will send her home in a taxi. That way if she can come in you can see for yourself and judge her correctly or ask her next time to obtain a doctors certificate.

You sound pretty cranky. And cold-hearted. Don't you realise that some people have varying degrees of period pain? A friend of mine gets it so bad that she spends two days in bed and vomits from the sheer intensity of the pain. I know someone else that gets it that bad too, she spends a couple of days throwing up, and gets intense back pain and migraines. I would've thought that as a woman you'd have more understanding for her. Back off and put your fangs away.

I am a manager, and I know people call in hung over, lazy, etc., but I take the view that a person has a right to call in sick if they want to, they don't need an excuse.
It is my job to make sure their load of the work is taken care of when they call in, not theirs.

some women have very severe pain that they can faint from the pain & are doubled up in agony for a few hours & then when the pain has gone they are so weak they couldn't work
it can be like child labour for some poor women
