i really never heard of a 310 wild cat motor before but thats what it says on the air cleaner top,the problem i'm having is the car has been parked for a number of years and before that i drove it every place and it ran fine, now after refueling and clean filters and plugs it ran good for maybe 1 hour then started pinging and labor knocking seams to be because of the no lead gas but i'm not sure, i really don't wish to add little bottles of stuff every time i drive to help the no lead gas problem, and don't like the newer electronic controled motors so a engine trade is not in the picture, the car has 28000 miles and rides like a dream, what could be done to make the car run the way it needs to and be able to make long trips like 2000 miles without problems about the new gas, their are many classic cars running around and i don't think they all have newer running gear setups, please give me some help to make my ride run good again, thanks and have a good day.

you may still have some old bad gas in the system, did you drain all the old out? try flushing it again.

You can set the timing back to 0 degrees BTDC and if it still pings, you'll have to run some octane booster or maybe a water/alcohol injector. Try to get it to run at 5 or 6 degrees and run a 160 degree thermostat. :)

The engine is badly out of tune from sitting up. Rebuild the carb, drain the gas, change fuel filters. Clean out the distributor, the advance mechanism is stuck. Run 93 octane gas. Several engines offered in '67, none was a 310 CID. Closest was a small 300 CID V8 making 210 HP and 310 ft-lb of torque. Biggest was a 430 CID that makes 360 HP.

yes there was a 310, you probably have old gas in it , octane boost will help, there is a "lead substitute" you can get to put in the gas to help those soft old valve seats, eventually a valve job will need to be done , drive and enjoy the old girl , i had a '67 skylark with a 300, loved it.

check wikipedia (buick v8 engine)for engine info, this engine may be the 301 pontiac engine, sounds like you may have fuel gummed up in the jets of the carb, also did you put in 85 octane or higher, my old tbird(1967) runs well on premium and runs like crap on anything less, try some octane booster see if that helps, good luck
