Is it normal to just sit and do it? Normal to stand? Maybe a mix of the two? Why one way over the other? Benefits? Cons?

I sometimes lean forward, or to one side, but never stand

The wiping alone method (sitting or standing) is most commonly used in the west but does not seem to be sufficient. In most far eastern cultures people have a more sanitary method which includes wiping and then washing with water and soap. Think about it... if you had a piece of #2 on your arm would you just wipe it off or wash too? We can learn a lot from far eastern cultures.

I prefer to sit through the entire process. Basically, I'm just too lazy to move and standing to wipe my own tushy is totally out of the question. I'm waiting for them to start making auto-wipe toilets. That way I can enjoy a bagel and coffee in the morning while sitting on the can and enjoy my 2 minutes of peace in the bathroom ALONE AT LAST!

I would have to say that I am more of a leaner. I first lean forward and then I lean to the left and just too make sure that I did a good job, I lean to the right and wipe again. I don't know, but this seems to work for me.

I stand; I start sitting, but eventually I need to dig deep, you know? So, I end up standing to wipe!

We stand to be wiped when we are children. Most adults sit and wipe.

Well, standing up while wiping is probably faster, cause you can be pulling your undies up with the other hand. But then, you will smell like sheet, and have to change your undies more often

My boyfriend does that. At first I thought it was unusual but then I learned in my elder caregiving class that it prevents UTI's by wiping from front to back.

Not only do I stand to wipe, I stand to go.

I'm a stander. I wipe until backside is clean, then I wash my hands. Then I pull pants back up. It's always worked for me.
