PLEASE -- at the College were I am taking courses (and I AM a Retiree who already holds UGrad and Grad Degrees) -- the AVERAGE age of students is ... 36 years old!

The classes us older students (meaning us Retirees) are taking are mostly for FUN and to remain active -- we never had classes on Computers, Digital Photography, and subjects that were not in our original degree programs -- because ... well ... we KNEW we had to be serious when we were very young, put ourselves through college and start our careers to support our families.

NOW that we have finished our careers, have benefits, and have time, it is interesting that about half of us in classes are older than the average, and about half are what you would consider the average college student -- the individual right out of HS.

IT is NOT weird to be 22 or 33 or 55 or older in College anymore. As long as you have a brain, and you are enjoying the classes -- you can take them when you want. And for those of us Retirees who do -- we take a couple of classes a semester, and just enjoy the time in them tremendously!

No! I am 31 and started back this year, and I am not the only one. A lot of them are actually in their twenties because of starting late or going part time or going to the military first.
Anyway, 22 is not much older than 18. What's the difference?

Your never too old to start school. I'm 26 and a freshman. In my classes, peoples ages range from 17 to 70. I know what you mean about being out of school for a while, don't let that scare you. Some colleges have classes that can help you catch up with writting, math, and reading.

You will not be in the minority. There will be many people much older than you in your classes. Some will be returning or starting after a long break, and some go part time while working to pay for it. Just go! No one will think any less of you or say anything obnoxious, that childish behavior went out with high school

It'll be good for you. You'll go in with the maturity and drive that the 18 year olds won't have. Do it.

Your never too old to start. You'll be surprised when you see your classmates. More people are starting to go back.
