I lactated for two months afterward. I was not quite as far along but the fetus had stopped growing and was no longer viable. I'm not sure what your situation was but I'm sure it was just as serious.

If it's truly bothering you (which I'm sure it is), there are things you can take to dry it up.

Try eating lots of foods with sage, parsley, and garlic. Those herbs will help some.

If you can find any of those in capsule form, take them as well, following the directions on the bottle.

If those don't work ask your doctor for a medicine to do this. There are several. You can absolutely get a prescription. There are also nursing-type bras you can get which hold pads in the right place to prevent anything from seeping through your clothes.

Don't pay attention to the people criticizing you. They weren't in your situation.

I found myself in the same situation, finding out I was 4 months pregnant(I had a period the whole time) from being raped. I checked into abortion, adoption, and keeping the child. In the end I chose to keep my child. I wouldn't change my decision for anything, but I don't judge those who chose to have an abortion. I wasn't lactating at 5 months, but try some cabbage leaves in your bra at night and just wait. It will eventually go away on it's own. The cabbage will help to pull the milk out and relieve the pain of engorgement. It also helps to dry up your milk.

you were already more then half done full term is 37 - 40 weeks SO even in a rape case i think it was wrong and should not be legal. I am pro choice as long as that choice is made in reasonable time or only done in the case where the child is not viable. 22 weeks is just frigging sick a baby can live without your womb at 27 weeks with a 90% chance of no defects!. very sad any clinic would abort a baby so close to being viable without YOU!. VERY bad that one persons poor choice lead you to making a equally poor choice. Had you said you were 8 weeks or 12 weeks I'd feel totally different about it. And i am pretty sure it was not a RAPE my friend who was raped was put on the morning after pill at the hospital IT IS often GAVE to all rape victims.

Congrats on your abortion! Sorry, but the religious right acts like we send out HallMark Cards like that, congratulating people on sad stuff like that. Just because someone has one, doesn't mean it wasn't a very hard choice to make.

Listen to Soleil about expressing milk, just ignore the leaking and keep pads to soak the lead up. It will dry up on its own in a short time. Its just natural.

I didn't know you could get an abortion at 5 months. Hmmm that's quite disturbing.

I am so very sorry that you had to choose abortion. I know many people that would have taken care of your child. I am not being mean...I am just very very sorry.

You might could talk to your dr. I didn't breast feed and he gave me some pills to make it stop. Sorry about your situation.
