whoa, I never said I was against government; you incorrectly surmise that I do. I was asking perfectly legitimate question.

Try it otherwise and I think both of the things you ask will be confirmed; by sharp contrast. Romanticism is as dead as Rousseau. PS I never said you were either, but try the experiment of not having governance, then the moral foundation and justification will be plain for you to see. There are many examples in history to peruse.

I could write book on that question, but I'll try to be concise.

I’m not sure what your definition of “moral foundation” or “moral justification” is, so I’ll use mine. Many people use the word “moral” to define what is good in a religious way. Ethics is usually used to define something as good in a societal way. So I’m going to assume that you’re asking for religious reasons for government’s existence.

Here is a short list of those reasons.
Preserve religious freedom
Legally enforce people not to harm others. “Love your neighbor as yourself”
The Bible denotes that governments are instruments of God (Romans 13)
The Bible denotes that it’s wrong to despise government (2 Peter 2:10)

Yes, there is!

You are not alone.
You a part of the universe.
The principles of the universe govens what you are.

So there is governance and there must be governance.

There is no escape. Even if human cannot govern, nature will goven what you are!
