I am disabled and love to bake cakes. I can not hold a part or full time job. In short would like to make my cakes from scratch at my home to make a few dollars in helping to make ends meet. I am talking 3-5 cakes a week 3 would be fine. What do you thing of this Idea - and how would you market the cakes as well? I have tryed about a year and can't seem to sell much even though they are very good. One last thing - I do not get out of the house much.

Luckily the health department doesn't require you to have a separate location to bake your cakes in. It sounds to me like the problem is that you don't get out of the house much so you can't get the cakes out there for people to try. You will have to try to get out there as much as you can. If you are baking plain cakes and frosting them you are going to have stiff competition. However if you start decorating them to be theme cakes you will find people clamouring at your door. For instance you could make childrens cakes as a lot of mothers do not have time to bake cakes anymore. Then all you have to do is market at your local Chucky Cheese and that would be the extent of it. If you like decorating wedding cakes then you could simply market at bridal shops. I hope this helps good luck.

If you go to church you can let people there know. Ads on bulletin boards at the grocery. Have some flyers made and pay a kid to pass them out door to door. Hope this helps, Good Luck.

Hi there,
If you bake great cakes - it means you have a lot of know-how plus great recipes. You also know what works and things to stay away from.

Why not look to expand your horizons? You can, you know. and profitably too!
