I can see red bumps (blisters?) on my throat. Not white patches, so I don't think it is strep. I also have a cough and other common cold symptoms - no fever though.

Warm tea with honey, honey is a natural antibiotic. Gargle with warm salt water. There is a new product out there called Cold MD which is said to shorten the duration of a cold. I, don't gag, will even put a dab of Vick's vapor rub on my tongue and let it dissolve. The coolness makes the throat feel better. I am suffering with this too right now and feel like cr^p. Ibuprofen is good for inflamation. Hope you feel better soon.

Hey there... I'm just getting over my sore throat.

I don't usually have much luck with warm salt water; it's never helped me too much. Everyone's different, though, so it's worth a shot.

I found a really good tea this weekend called Echinacea Complete Care Wellness Tea by Celestial Seasonings. It's got Vitamin C, zinc, echinacea, eucalyptus, natural menthol, and lots of other good things. Most big grocery stores carry Celestial Seasonings teas... it shouldn't be too hard to find.

I always let my body fight its own illnesses, but sore throats are the one time I'm tempted to reach for the prescriptions... sore throats are absolute agony! Hot tea has always helped me, but only temporarily.

This tea I just found is by far the best I've ever had, though... I was better in about two days. The hotter you can stand it, the better.

Take care, and remember... it's only temporary. :)

a great throat treament is 1 table spoon of honey mixed with 1 clove of crushed garlic. The honey is full of vitamins and VERY soothing on the throat as well as the garlic that has natural anti biotic properties you cant go wrong with this when suffering from sore throat. For a larger ammount use a whole garilc clove peeled and put into a jar with 5 tablespoons of honey cover and leave on your window sill till the garlic becomes oplique in appearance. You can take 1 teaspoon of this as required for sore throat or when you loose your voice. I have a HUGE thyroid and often loose my voice and this is the only thing that seems to work. ive tried many chemical remidies and nothing else has worked for me. I hope this helps you

Soak garlic in water and gargle with the water. Garlic is a natural infection fighter. The cough could be sinus draining into the lungs. Simmer eucalyptus leaves and breath the oils. Rest and drink water.

Gargle saltwater. Mix 2 tablespoons of salt in a small glass of warm water and gargle for 1 minute or as long as you can stand it. Its only a temporary help. You may have to do it every couple of hours, but it does clear your throat instantly.

Gargle warm salt water a few times a day. Every doctor I have ever been to always says to do this, and it does help after a few times.

Gargle warm water with salt, its gross but works. ALSO, try eating or drinking anything warm - like soups and hot chocolate. I use a theraputic bath soak...you buy it at walmart in the bubbles/healthcare section....Its like 5 bucks and you pour it into you bathtub and it boosts your immune system and relieves coughs and such, its the menthol in it and it smells sooooo goood...i swear by them!!
