DO IT!!!!!!!!!
I never studied abroad, but i got to live in mexico for three years as part of my work. I LOVED IT!!! Not so much for where i was, but it really lets you look at what you have in the US that you take for granted. You also get to really look at what a culture different from yours is, and you get to see the good points.
You just can't get an experience like this for visiting, even for several months.
You really soak in the culture difference by living there
DO IT!!!!!
You will look back on it with fondness for the rest of your life.
It will really broaden your outlook.
Trust me, americans aren't right about everything

Hi There,

I think it's a great opportunity to study abroad. In fact, if you do it somewhere like China, it will be considerably cheaper. You would have to look into a university that has a program with a university in your country so your credits will be recognized in your country.

The one downfall is language, that might be a problem. Even so, it would be an amazing experience. While you learn you are going to gain life experience as well, which goes great on a resume.

Good luck

You should definitely do it when you get the chance!! I studied abroad in Brazil for a month this past summer and it was awesome. I met a lot of great people and had so much fun there. Always take the opportunity to travel! We took trips and tours and got to see so many things. And the classes were soooo easy.

Traveling is a good idea anyway, but if you get school credit for it, DO IT!!!!!

I went to live in Britain for a few years, and when I was at the end of my school years there, I learned a lot. However, while my knowledge grew, so too did my unhappy mood. There are many people around the world who do not tolerate difference, and because I was an American gal living in jolly old England, I stuck out a lot, and sometimes people didn't like the fact that I was different. They bluntly assumed that I thought I was the best, just because I was American. I have never seen myself as "the best" in their terms, so it was pure assumption from their side, and they assumed wrong.
Still, to all who wish to study abroad, I hope you have better luck than I in cases of people. I also bid you to go to Britain... while I was there, that country was a jumping platform for me to visit countries such as Spain, France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Ukraine and Russia.

Well...the last broad I studied took it personaly and refused to talk to me after that.

okay, that was the fun answer. As for the serious answer, I say take any opportunity to travel that you can. You will stand a better chance of learning a new culture after spending time there living in a more normal setting. Things you will never learn from tourism. GO FOR IT!

From a qualification point of view - If you are coming from another African country then your eventual qualification should see you through most other African countries. If you intend working outside of Africa, think twice, your qualification will probably not be recognised in most places, and IF allowed you will have to do bridging courses and exams. Another thing to keep in mind is that the standards of educational institutions in SA are dropping yearly with less and less overseas countries recognising SA qualifications. From a crime point of view - do you really want to go there, the crime capital of the world with a really unhealthy social environment, which only the people that have to live there try to convince themselves that it is normal! Google or Youtube "crime south africa". With regards to your qualification I would check now against which country, state and industry you intend to work in and see whether they accept that qualification from SA. Good luck.

I completely reccomend it. I grew so much in my year abroad and learned so much about myself, as well as about a foreign language and a foreign culture. If you're mature and ready to handle yourself in stressful situations when nothing's quite "normal" to you, then I definitely think you should do it.

Email me if you have any questions.

Absolutely go! You will learn so much about yourself and life. Seeing other cultures and ways of lives will open your eyes to the beauties and ugliness in the world. It's very educational.
