set your triangles so that the tip of each (choose, it doesn't matter) all face the center. You should end up with sex exterior angles, making it a heptagon. And you would use three triangles on each polar axis.

A 6-sided figure is a "hexagon," which you can form by putting the triangles together like a pizza.

A 7-sided figure is a "heptagon." So you need 7 sides not 6.

I would use 4 triangles to form a 4 sided base:
/\Z\7
Then put 2 more together like \Z\
and put that on top to the far right:

...\Z\
/\Z\7

You will have 7 sides, but it will be concave and not convex.
Now go eat pizza!
