Well, I just stood up in a wedding of a guy I pledged with 25 years ago. There were 17 of us from 3 pledge classes that attended.

Also, we were all business majors, so we help each other out when we can. 2 in real estate, one in mortgages, 3 of us are business owners, 2 in manufacturing, one in payroll services, 2 in insurance, one in the music business, 2 in education and 3 in banking.

I found it worth it. It taught me how to interact with different people whom you live with and the traits to watch out for in my career that I saw in the Fraternity (it's like a little business).

First of all, keep in mind that not all fraternities are created equal. Some are actually longstanding, respected organizations that offer scholarships, career assistance, and a national network to their members. Others are just "clubs" that you join to party. Make sure you know what you're getting into.

There are plenty of benefits to joining a fraternity, the greatest of which are the friends that you'll make. Those bonds will last a lifetime.

However, I'm sure you're no stranger to the stereotypes of frats (the partying, boozing, etc). There's nothing wrong with having some fun while you're in college, but just make sure that you keep your studies in check. While you may decide to join the frat, I would definitely try to avoid actually living in the frat house. You'll be thankful when midterms and finals hit!

Go to their rush parties, drink their beer, and piss in their bushes when you leave.

If you're an athlete, they will come after you for celebrity.
If you're a scholar, they will use you to bring up house grade ave.
If you're from wealthy home they want endowment
If you're good looking, you're a chick hook for acne cases
If you're a hell of a guy you'll fit in with the time wasting beer bongers and imature party animals who make up most of the brothers in a lot of frats.

And by the time you're a junior you will have outgrown the childish bull **** and move out if you have any character or worthy goals in life. If not, you may become one of those sagging old farts who come around at home coming in silly hats and school colors and wearing their pin, looking as vacuous as they did as a freshman plebes.

Don't ever envy 'em. Just take a walk with a nice girl that night.

No offense, but I don't think you're cut out for it. You wouldn't make it past the cut!
