I am trying to open a Jazz club and i am trying to find out what permits and licences i need and how do i go about getting them. Also how long does it usually take to get them?

Ok, are you ready?
You would need a licquor license, a business license, and an entertainment license I believe depending on that fact. If you were to sell things you would also need a license for that. It would take 3-6 months for the licquor license depending on your background, 4-8 weeks for the business license. The other two vary depening on what exactly you needed them for, the location and usage of them. To obtain any of these you would have to go to the Mayor's Office Building and fill out tons of forms. It's that easy.

If there will be alcohol served you have to have a permit for selling alcohol and you would need to obtain the license from the state for keeping the business up and running.
maybe 6 months to a year to get

Go to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commision webpage, http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/default.htm , and click on "How To Apply for a License/Permit." It should give you all the info you need.

Around here theres a small business commerce, maybe see if there's something of the like in TX?
