A bit sad, but true. I have a few individual friends and there all part of this huge group. The only problem is, as my friends are making new friends, i'm not. I'm shy, but only because i dont know what to say. Even when i'm talking to my friends, i'm looking for a great way to start a conversation, one of those really long ones that everyone seems to join in. I know that will help me strenthen my friendship with the few friends that i do have, and help me to make more. I don't want to say anything weird or just plain awkwerd though. How do people do it, how do you hold and start a long conversation that everyone just has to join in?

Talk about something interesting to everyone
DON'T talk about music videos, T.V, etc pop culturea nd stuff because come on, that WILL lead you straight down the toilet.
Talk about funny or cool stuff and don't act quiet and nod you rhead to look cool act yuorself.
Like talk about
1. Why the heck we think sending a poor country a few water bottles and american currency will help them alot!
2. How come gas comes out of your mouth and other places (not seriously joke around)
3.Tell some joke (not cheesy ones, if you have to perverted, or about pop culture)
4.Conversation about stuff you're pretty sure everyone likes even if it's pop culture.
5. Talk about sports,(like who sucks, who's better, is Barry bonds on steroids, why rockies rule...okay fine you don't have to say they rule)
6. Anything you want, as long as you don't try to sound cool.
7.Tell great stories about yourself (like the time used a powerful water gun to squirt water all over some guy in a suit and his porshe while he was yelling at the apartment complex door greeter. Only if it really happened, this is just a life experience example.)

Talk about a topic everyone can talk about make it broad, like lets say this is happening after the weekend. You can ask what did you do on the weekend, etc..Or if you all have the same hobby or interest in something and you know you can talk alot about it, you can do that too, also conversations arent all talking you could also listen for most of the time, when you don't know waht to say :). There's nothing to be shy about, they're already your friends right?? So it'll be fine no matter what happens.

Well im that shy and quiet type of person and its really easy to start a conversation i do it better with my friends because they know me well and while it spreads. Start off with somethings random and then ask questions or make a compliment and sooner or later you'll go changing subject its nice to get to know other people dont be shy. And remeber what to say before you speak make them laugh and enjoy each others company just dont make it into romours or clicks bugging in.
Good Luck and have fun.

just be confident! you can do it! look someone in the eye and start talking! don't let that scared feeling hold you back. the more you talk, the more confident you will become. and smile when you're talking so that people will know you're happy to be talking to them. just have fun! and it won't be long until you'll be carrying on conversations without even thinking about it!

well i've tried doing that myself. Talk about yourself. What your into. for ex. if your in any sports, what curricular activities you do, how you like school, whatever your into. Try being a bit more out and shining. to take your shyness away, try talking to someone just to practice your talking skills.

identify your passions in life and start a conversation about it. Ask questions about life and goals, places to travel, current events, hobbies, music interests, physical fitness, restaurants, anything and everything is out there to talk about....

yesterday's drama series? did you all watch? funny? romantic? theres this part where the blah blah blah right? right? it was hilarious!!
when you feel awkward, try to look at the ground, then say
"hey?! your shoes are nice! where did you buy them from?
...............
oh.. how much is it?
...............
woah! so expensive/cheap? im gonna buy it next time when i see it!
and dont be shy.... i wont like to mix with shy people either. it would also make me feel awkward. just try to be more open and make yourself comfortable with them and naturally they will feel the same.
