All of those could be premenstrual symptoms. Before getting my period this time, I had extreme cramps four days before. There is a small possibility of pregnancy--you should not rule it out--but if you are gettings symptoms it would mean your hcg level is high enough and you should have had a positive result. Best bet? Wait a few days and take another test. If you still don't have your period or a positive pregnancy test, consult with your doctor. Remember, you were on the pill 8 years, so that could've changed your cycle. I've also heard of women who go off the pill and don't ovulate the first few months. Every woman is different, so like I said, try to be patient and wait a few days and see what happens. Good luck!

Probably, because you have been on birth control for so long, it is unlikely that you are pregnant right off the bat. Not that its impossible, just improbable. I also have cramps that start and go away and start and go away about a week to several days before my period and my boobs and nipples hurt like hell! Also bloating is very common. My husband and I have also been trying for a child for 3 years, so I understand your anticipation. Give your body time to adjust from not taking the birth control and get used to having a natural cycle. I'm sure you will get pregnant very soon! But the symptoms you descibed pretty much sound like PMS and a period. GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES!

You sound just like me. Except I was on birth control much longer and now have been trying to conceive for much longer. Every month you are going to talk yourself into 'symptoms'. Just keep in mind that now your cycle will be all screwy and so will your body. 3 years later and I still don't know what to expect, or when. There are tons of sites you can check out to get lots of useful info. I particularly like Babycenter.com. THey have great message boards where you can talk to other women going through the same things. Also, keep in mind you may even skip a month or so when first coming off the pill. I skipped like 6 months the first time I went off. This time it went pretty much straight to normal, but still some wacky ones from time to time. Unfortch they are right, you just need to relax. But I, from experience, know better. I just wish you tons of baby dust!!
Good luck!

Menstration symptoms are different when you are no longer taking birth control. Many women report the symptoms as being more severe when they are not using birth control. The home pregnancy test are the same ones they use in the doctor's office, so if it says negative, it is probably negative.

Kara, it takes about 4 months for the effect of the pill to go away after stopping it.
Thereafter, to get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

Honestly, stop "trying" so hard! Relax have fun and just be open to life! I don't know how many times I have told about my grandmother. She was 35 and they tried for kids for a good ten years. Then my cousins died, and my grandmother took in their two kids, then she became pregnant with three other children. I think it has something to do with NOT trying so hard!
I have one son, age 32. and it wasn't planned! It just happened!
Best of life to you!

wow! 8yrs is really a long time. i know it's hard but you've to be patient. dont want to be a spoilt sport but honestly when something hasnt been used for a while, it takes time to regulate esp something so complex as a human organ. do something to distract yourself - relax & stop thinking about it. when you least expect it, it'll come. God bless & good luck.
