Given
X + 2y = 200
&
X = y + 50

Replace X in equation 1 with value in equation 2
y + 50 + 2y = 200
3y + 50 = 200
3y = 150
or y = 50

X = y + 50
or X = 100

X+2y = 200 & X= y + 50
substitute eq.2 into eq1:
y+50 +2y =200
3y = 150
y= 50
and x= 50+50 = 100 '

Ok I'll help you a little in case your stuck. for X+2y=200 divide everything by 2 to get rid of the 2 in the 2y so it would be x+y=100 then isolate them so if you solve for x divide everything by y so
(x+y=100)/y
I hope this gives a clue on how to go. If you're just trying to take the easy way out...well...we all had to go through highschool and while highschool algerbra is worthless and won't serve you in the real world you have to jump through the same stupid hoops as the rest of us did.

first you must solve for one of the variables of one of the equations. lets do x of the first one.
1. subtract 2y to other side. x=200-2y
2. plug in your x value just found in above step and plug it into the second equation.
200-2y= y+50
3. Now solve the equation for y. combine like terms to get the equation 3y=150. divide out the 3, y=50
4.now take the y value and plug it into the FIRST equation.
x+2(50)=200. solve for x. x=100
5. check work. lets use the second equation for this. plug in your x and y values you just solved for. (its doesn't matter which one you choose)
100=50+50

x is already defined as y + 50 so substitue it in the first equation.
(y + 50) + 2y = 200
combine y -->[ y + 2y = 3y]
3y + 50 = 200
isolate y [subtract 50 from both sides]
3y = 150 [divide both sides by 3]
y = 50

x = (50) + 50 = 100 [self explainatory]
hope that helps <3

Because x=y+50, y+50+2y=200

3y=150

y=50
--------------
x=y+50
x=50+50
x=100

(100,50)
