OMG.....it seems that all the "grunge" sound was soooooo depressing.....especially coming out of the loud, wild and good times 80's!!!

The nineties was a great time musically. The grunge movement was just what our society needed after the manufactured pop of the eighties. Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvanna and Stone Temple Pilots dominated the scene for just three or four years.

All the other genres of music took note and evolved too. Rap, Dance, Country, Ska, and Punk all took a shot in the arm. We got infused genres out of the nineties too.

If you think the nineties are too gloomy, listen to the Soup Dragons, Rusted Root, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sublime, Green Day, Beastie Boys or Primus.

I liked Chemical Brothers a lot.
A particularly gloomy great song is "How Can I Exist Without You?" by Stabbing Westward. And it's kind of funny at the same time bc it sounds like he's singing "How can I have sex without you?"
