Am I wrong for being grossed out by obese people? I was watching TV and saw a woman who could barely walk?

I wish you would rethink this. Morbid obesity is a disability and people who have it suffer personally from complications it brings about health wise and socially because they are aware of the stigma attached to being obese and are fully aware of attitudes such as yours. I would hope that as a civilized society we would have more compassion and acceptance for people who are obese or who have other physical features that are not average or typical. Certainly you cannot deny how you feel but I hope you will learn to look at people with empathy rather than condemnation.

You're allowed to be grossed out by obese ppl, but try to remember that not every obese person is that way b/c of laziness or being a pig. Some ppl have genuine thyroid/metabolism problems. And I can tell you that no one who is obese is happy to be that way. They know that they are in poor health and at drastically increased risk for heart disease, heart attacks, diabetes, strokes, and a whole host of other health problems. The woman you saw on TV is probably somewhat unhappy with her life. Many obese people have tried every diet in the book and still can't get the weight off. So just keep these things in mind when you see overweight ppl.

First of all, did it ever occur to u why that person is "Obese" or as i would like to refer to them and myself as pleasingly plump or fluffy? Just because u may weigh 110 pounds doesn't mean ppl that are fluffy are gross. Some may have had children, i know some ppl that have children are thin, some may have medical conditions. so yes i think u should be wrong. Alot of times it's not that persons fault that they are overweight.

I resent this question. Some obese people have reasons why they are the way they are, and you shouldn't judge them by appearances alone. In my experience, overweight people are often some of the most interesting people to be around.

You're right to be concerned though, because it's not nice to judge people. It's okay to be grossed out in your head, but you should try not to show it in person because that is just mean.

This person probably knows she is morbidly obese. She doesn't need people reminding her of it.

NO your not wrong, and some people who are fat are distgusting. But it is a form of prejudice and discrimination. Sometime when I see people who are too skinny I feel the same way. Like I mean its okay to be like a size 8 on up, but anything less than that, ISNT sexy, cute, pretty or healthy, these women look like a malnutrion bag of bones.

yes you are wrong. obese people have the same feelings other people have. i agree that they should try to make healthier choices but for themselves not to try to please people like you. are you also grossed out by people who smoke (filthy habit) or people who get drunk (stupidity) judge not lest you be judged. are you perfect

well if you were grossed out than you were grossed out, i am sure a skinny broad makes her sick {well they make me sick, i normally want to tell them to EAT SOMETHING} however thats just my opinion...........so what you get grossed out over heavy people i get grossed out over tiny nasty looking broads. it dont mean your in the wrong it just means that you have your own opinion.
