Tomorrow i have a lab test in bio and we are going to look at ten different slides under a microscope. we have to identify which stage of mitosis we are looking at, five are going to be animal and five plant. (ex: telophase, metaphase, anaphase...) i just cannot tell what im looking at when i do that. if anybody could help in any way i would reallllly appreciate it... thanks!

I don't have any picutres for you to look at, but I can give you an explanation.
animal cells are going to be more rounded, and plant cells are more rectangular.
Remember: PMAT, these are the phases of mitosis
Prophase-the chromatin begins to condense into chromosomes and the nucleus begins to break down.
Metaphase-The Chromosomes line up or Meet or "MET" at the cellular equator
Anaphase- The chromosomes are pulled apart at the centromere
Telophase- The chromatin decondenses and the neclues reforms
Also, the diff. between animal and plant cells....
Animal cells have a cleavage furrowl like a figure-8.
Plant cells build a cell plate in between the separated chromosomes
Mitosis results in two daughter chromosomes.

Regardless of being plant or animal, the phases of mitosis are the same, the difference lies in the cytokinesis process.
1)prophase: you will see the condensation of DNA like gross dots inteh nucleus, and tyhe nuclear membrane beginning to desintegrate( early prophase), or the cormosomes gathered together with no nuclear membrane( late prophase, also called ¨prometaphase¨before).
2) metaphase: the cromosomes aline in the geometrical center of the cytoplasm( the¨ecuador¨of the cell). Depending on the cut plane, you can see them pointing to each direction of the ecuador from the center, or like the petals of a flower when it is open.
3) anaphase: you will see the cromosomes separating and migrating to the poles.
4) telophase: you will see the reintegration of the nuceli of the children cells, and sometimes the beginning of cytokinesis( separation of ther citoplasms).
You may see other cells wtih fine granular cromatine and nucleoli, these cells are in ¨intephase¨, wich is not a mitosis phase.
