12(2-x)=6
24-12x=6
-12x=6-24
-12x=-18
x=18/12=3/2

1) Distribute 12

24- 12x = 6

2) Subtract 24 from both sides to begin to get x alone

-12x = 6-24
-12x = -18

3) Divide -12 from both sides to get x alone

x=3/2

FYI.. Since you are dividing by two negatives, you will get a positive.
