An intelligent question! I'm not sure if he lost the election or if people just got tired of the way the war is going and he hasn't done anything differently to try and change that.

I think what actually lost the election was the fact that the Republicans focused on taxes and didn't campaign on what it was the people were more concerned about. They didn't spend enough time discusssing the economy that President Bush's policies made the strongest in many years. They didn't focus on all of the things the Republicans have accomplished during the last 6 years. They allowed the Democrats to dictate the terms on which the election was going to be run.
In plain English, they screwed up, and they are now paying the price.

Overall the Bush administration has been destructive not constructive. Focused externally not internally and extremely obtuse. Why would anyone have a hard time believing people (even from his own party) don't want to be associated with him?

The only good thing about the Bush presidency is that it'll be over in two years, or less.

I honestly don't know of a single "good thing" that has come out of the Bush presidency...here are a few of the bad things;
- An ill-conceived war in Iraq with no exit strategy that has resulted in the deaths of some 2500 young americans
- A Nuclear North Korea
- A national embarrassment and crime in the handling of Katrina
- Jack Abramoff and his ties to Carl Rove
- illegal wiretappiing of US citizens
- the lack of basic rights of prisoners and the rolling back of the Geneva conventions
- billions of dollars in missing funds to no-bid contractors in Iraq
- the outing of an active covert CIA officer for political retaliation against her husband who dared expose their lies about WMD in Iraq
- rolling back of envirnmental laws to benefit big business and further global warming
- the largest budget deficits in history (at the same time he gave tax cuts to the wealthiest 1% of the country)
- secret White House meetings with Energy company CEOs to shape the country's "energy policy"
...just to name a few

Because the US press refused to give fair reporting time to the GOOD things going on in Iraq - new hospital and school systems, ten-fold increase in Iraqi business and commerce, every child immunized, on and on....

Sure, bombs go off and people get killed, its a war zone in SOME places, but when I pointed out the good things last week, all I got were thumbs down so no one wanted to hear it.
