I've been comparing some vehicles. I def like Mazda better than Honda from what i've read and seen. My question now is, what do you all prefer, AND what do you all (and maybe some higher up people who know the facts) consider is better...Mazda 6 or Mazda 3.

I initially decided on Mazda 3. However, I've ridden in my friends car (a Honda Accord) and another vehicle (an older honda Civic) (both were 4 doors) and I noticed I like the roomier accord moreso than the civic. I was told Mazda 6 to Mazda 3 is as Honda Accord to Honda Civic.

Here's come info I've found:
Mazda 6 i Grand Touring (loaded)=$24,935
Mazda 3 s Grand Touring (loaded w/o navigation system)=$23,025

*the above WITH the navigation system is $24,775-still cheaper than the 6.
In both of these, I'll have everything I want and then some. A few differences that could sway me are mpg (is better w/ the 3 than the 6), and room (there is more in the 6 than in the 3).

Which is better all around??

I'd like to make something very clear so there is no confusion-

Honda is totally out of the situation. I'm comparing the Mazda 6 and 3. thanks.

In reply to Jennifer-My dear the Civic, Accord, Mazda 3 and 6 are priced about the same, so with your calculations, they are both pretty equal. Not only that, but I've seen many many reports that show mazda 3 to be the leading car when compared to the new civic.

However, once again we are not comparing Honda with mazda. Please...someone give me some great info, I don't care if you write a novel! I wont be totally convinced until I test drive both the 3 and 6, but before then I'd like to be convinced of what I pretty much want...I'm lookin for a best answer.

I'm liking the answers I'm getting. Even though I asked not to compare the honda with the mazda, the little information thrown out there has got me concerned. However I've heard nothing but good abot mazda, and that you can't find mazda 3's used cuz they are just so good. I'll do a little more research about how much it costs to replace parts in both a honda and a mazda, and the retail values.

A ford motor in the 6? Hmm I'm lookin for foreign period...that might turn me off all together. I know what i will do before I buy is get a consumer reports book and see what they have to say.

Wow, Yahoo Answers spam already. Impressive. Anyway, in that price I wouldn't go with the regular 3 but the Mazdaspeed 3 (263 horsepower. 263!) but that would kill your gas mileage too. Between the 3s and 6i, I would say the 3 is more practical and fun, but the 6 looks and probably feels more mature. Depends on you, might you might feel like you outgrew a small car like the 3 in a few years.

I've had a new Mazda3 s Touring for about 4 months now, and I love it. I'm 6-foot-2 and 250 pounds, and it's got plenty of room for me. I guess the 6 might be roomier, but its design is a little dated. I get 30-31 mpg with pure highway driving, 26 mpg when i'm doing mostly highway driving, and right now as a pizza delivery guy i'm getting 24-25 mpg. I didn't test drive a 6 so I can't tell you much about it, but I know that I love the way the 3 feels and handles. It might be a little noisier at high speeds than the 6, though; at 80 mph, it's less noisy than my old '91 accord was, but still a bit noisier than my roommate's '99 accord. I'd say the 3 is a better buy than the 6 unless you're regularly going to have 4 or 5 6-footers in the car.

I'm in a similar boat as you. I initially decided on the M3. When I went to go test drive it I sat in the M6 too because that one had leather (and I'm looking to get leather). The room in the 6 is incredible! I thought the 3 drove better but there were more blind spots in it than in the 6. I liked the 3 for the gas mileage too. I suppose what ultimately made my mind up is that between the m3 s touring with leather/sunroof and the m6 i touring which comes standard with leather/sunroof and is easier to find, the prices were comparable and I could sacrafice some MPG's for the extra room and GREAT looks.

I'll have a new M6 sometime within the next week, I've just got to do the haggling now.

Mazda 6 comes in a 2.3 and a 3litre
Mazda 3 comes in 2.0 and a 2.3 litre

Mazda 3 is a small car, while the 6 is a mid size

Mazda 3 is made in Japan, 6 in the USA.

Fueleconomy.gov will tell you what car uses more gas. the V6 is a ford V6.

i would get the three myself, better looking.

Well a Mazda retail value is no where near that of a Honda.
You'll never get as many miles out of a Mazda as you would a Honda.
You'll spend alot more on repairs than a Honda.
The Mazda 3 is Fugly.
The Mazda 6 looks nice but my boss had one and the engine went after 60,000 miles with regular 3000 maintenance's.
Just saw your edit. Best Wishes!

You pay for what you get

mazda are s hit...they cost $$$$$ to fix. they break down constantly.(we see them in service more then anything!)

you cant even compare a honda to a mazda. honda outrules them by a long shot!

i wouldnt buy anything other then Honda. Honda is known for its reliability.

mazda has horrible trade in/resale values.

Honda keeps its value well. hondas have less problems. less expensive to maintain..parts morfe widely available.

Check out the Acura TSX/TL too.

or check out the Fusion/Focus. Both excellent cars and i would highly recommend them. Ford is offering great incentives(0% financing/rebates on both cars)
