I hope I am wrong, but I think many of them are really that ignorant and close minded. And they want someone to agree with them, without being given criticising looks by those who disagree, so they post their stupid questions here while no one can see their faces.

Mixed bag. There ARE a number of "True Believers" (in the classic "fanatic", non-religious sense of the word) who have particular agendas and who will happily use any forum they can grab.
There are also a large number of trolls who either have nothing better to do, and/or whose lives are so small that the ONLY way they can feel validated is by getting attention---even negative attention---by spewing hatreds.
In either case---RAMO and RAMO and RAMO (report abuse, move on)---each and every time a question or answer violates the community guidelines or terms of service by being abusive.
Arguing with the "True Believers" generally doesn't change their mindsets, and commenting directly to the trolls generally just gives them the attention they crave.
Yahoo Answers can be a great place for getting information, even on controversial topics/subjects, as long as people behave themselves and act civilly....but when they don't, WHOABOY!

well just maybe, they are in the majority so as a liberal do gooder, perhaps you should embrace their views. Seriously, though, many normal, regular people are getting sick and tired of the do gooders and the over represented minorities. As to being sizeist, thats purely an american thing - if all americans halved tneir portions, then they might come down a few sizes so they are only obesce (as opposed to super size obesce). The truly sickening thing for me in the US is how many really fat kids they have...... surely the state should take these kids into care, place them on a reduced calorie diet of say 5000 cals/day and send the uncaring parents off to jail for a stint of semen salads.

We are not racist, sexist or any other -ist you can think of in this crazy world of political correctness. We are just a bunch of people who are sick of having to walk on egg shells every time we open our mouths and get victimised for telling the truth (which obviously hurts sometimes). Whilst I agree that there are some pretty extreme opinions expresed on this site, most of us are just venting our frustration with society and the way we are forced into watching what we say all the time. The world is too afraid of saying what it means because of PC people like you who take things too far with their "approriateness" and "ooh, I better not say that I might upset a fat person". I have no problem with anyone who is a different race than me, a different sex than me or fatter than me (or skinnier than me for that matter) but it's about time we all went back to calling a spade a spade. Its like we're all trying to kid ourselves that we are all the same when we are blatantly not. This crazy and insane political correctness has made a bunch of insincere prudes and woosies out of us all. Men ARE different to women, there IS a difference between black and white, there ARE some people who are fatter than others some that are thinner. Deal with it - it's called the variety of life.

I'm afraid that's what makes the world what it is. I like to think I'm nice, but hey, everyone's got an opinion about everyone else.

I think they do it for the same reasons that people pick their nose in the car, or give the finger while driving--anonymity.
