All you have to do is pass the Real Estate exam. Take a class with your local realtor and they will prep you for it, for a fee. Good luck!!

Most times you are required to take a certification class and take a local/state test or just register Often times you need to be sponsered by a broker[agent or agency].

Lots of laws ,standards and enforcement codes and so forth you need to know before getting out there to sell or buy a house.

The basic fee is pretty steep and the annual renew fees are pretty steep now as well.

Now, if its just for personal gain, then you don't need to be an agent to buy and sell. Many owners self finance and work their own deals.

Good luck

Contact your state or a trusted local agent. They are both happy to help you with all the details.

Check with your state, requirements are different in each state. Check with your Department of Regulatory Agencies or State Department of Licensing.

For instance, if you live in WA, you would check here:

If you were in Colorado, you would check here:
http://www.dora.state.co.us/real-estate/
