West. The Rockies and other great mountains are part of the same large cordillera that begins in Alaska and extent all the way down, passing Central America, to the Andes Mountains in Chile and Argentina. Check at the atlas.

The West. You have mountain systems such as the Rockies and the Sierras.in the western USA. You also have the Rockies extending up into Alaska. Eastern NorthAm has a lot of grasslands and plain, swamps, etc. The only really major mountain system over there is the Appalachians which aren't very "mountainous" at all.

I believe there are probably more higher elevations out west. So I am going to go with WESTERN. Eastern are the older Appalachian mountains, and out west you have of course the Rockies. Good question!

i would say west because they have the rockies, san andreas fault and the grand canyon while the east only has the appalachians and has more coastline than the west
