Look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guatemala. Without knowing what the assignment is, I could be steering you wrong, but you might want to focus on the things that are about people - religion, politics, culture, not so much history unless it's specifically a history project. "Muliticulturalism" is a good way to score points with teachers these days.

Look up on Google, about Guatemalan coffee! They grow it and export it to the USA. Also check out the Revolution in the 1980's (in Google type in "Guatemala History")
