Discuss why Isaac Newton is/was viewed as such a pivotal figure. what is it about his scientific contrutions that are so important? give specific examples of his influence.

He took the earthly behavior of objects(springs, pendulums, levers) that were researched by Galilei[1] and the behavior of heavenly objects that was researched by Kepler[2] and combined them into ONE formula that explained BOTH[3].
This purely conceptual achievement guaranteed fame to Newton, And his opinion was even sometimes given too much weight.
For example he accused Leibniz of stealing his theories, and because he had so much influence he was able to unfairly prosecute Leibniz.[4]

He also wrote a really weird commentary on the book of Revelation from the bible
