We are making a turkey on construction paper. We are using different color candy corn for the feathers. We glued down all the candy corn feathers and now five hours later, the candy corns are starting to ooze. It seems Elmer's Glue All was not the right choice.The candy corn is melting. I wonder if hot glue might be better because it dries faster? Or Crazy Glue?

When gluing food products it is best to use a food glue...otherwise known as Royal Frosting. This keeps the candy edible and if your kids are like mine they are going to want to eat it.
It will dry overnight
Use 3 egg whites and 4 cups confectioners (powdered) sugar. Whip the eggs until they start to form stiff peaks then beat in the confectioners sugar, adding in the last cup a little at a time adding just enough to make it stiff but squeezable. If you accidentally add too much sugar you can add water 1 tablespoon at a time till it gets back to the consistancy you want.
If you don't have a pastry bag, just put the icing in a zip-top bag and clip one of the lower corners and squeeze it out from there.
If you'd like you can flavor the icing with 1 tsp of vanilla before adding the sugar, or substitute lemon juice for part or all of the water.
When dried the icing is hard but edible! Remember the dots they used to sell on the slip of paper? This is the same stuff.

A glue gun works great for this, but the glue needs to be cooled a few seconds first before placing the candy on it. Also what works for me is fabric paint. You squeeze a little out on the paper, and place the candy on it. Push it down a little. Let it dry for twenty-four hours. Then it will not come out. The reason I use this is because it has different colors. And it works well on clothing, you can hold down sequences, or buttons, with out sewing it. It is permanent too. And washable. It does work on construction paper too. We made alot of pictures with the fabric paints for kids projects. I dont think crazy glue will work well.

cheap, inventive, and resource ful as i am, there was a night when i needed glue but we were out and it waas a sunday afternoon (bummer) so i did the craziest thing i went to the kitchen, go an empty butter bowl filled it with water and wheat flour, this stuff that i made is like paper machae so for your project you can just use a little bit (like a drop at a time) and this stuff will dry fast when their is a wind going around
WARNING!!!
this stuff is a nightmare getting out of your hair so be careful, we were fighting with it at a water balloon fight one time lol

if you just place a small dab of hot glue on the paper and don't stick the corn on right away, only when it is just getting mushy but is still hot and hold it there, it should work great.
