I have had my tongue pierced a few months ago. I never had an infection, and it has healed nicely. The thing is, even though I have had my bar changed to a smaller one, it still seems to be too long for my tongue, and that bothers me. So I want to take it off sometimes, but will it close very easily if I do that? I don’t’ want it to close. My ear piercings never close no matter how long I take earrings off for.

it closes in a matter of hours!! As your tongue is a muscle it heals really quickly!! Get used to a long bar - or go to a piercing studio and ask them for one that is more suited to you!! If you are worried about your piercing for things like interviews etc - where you do not really want it to be obviously noticed - get a clear ball - no one will be the wiser, unless they look into your mouth or you stick your tongue out!!!

Everybody is different.
I've had my tongue pierced for 10 years and I can't have it out for over two hours or it begins to close To be on the safe side, get a slightly smaller bar that what you're currently wearing first, then take the current one out...let it rest for a few minutes, wiggle it around a little bit (sounds silly but it feels good) and then replace it with the shorter bar. You should notice a difference.

the toungue closes up the fastest. i have my tongue pierced too but i never take it out because im afraid it will close up

my daughter let her close and now she regrets it.she's one of the few that grew a "second"tongue.they told her it was over the fact that she removed her bar.

ive had my tongue peirced for 2 years and i dont ever wear it and mine is still open, all depends on how fast your skin heels, xxxxxx

it only takes a few hours for it to close if you have it in for more that 6 years then it will never close
