The main source of transportation for the Ojibwe was birchbark canoes.

The Ojibwe lived mainly in the forested areas of Minnesota, Ontario, Wisconsin and Michigan. Forget about horses. Horses don't operate well in the forest. Horses were more plains culture, being the Cheyenne and Lakota.

A great website to search for information on the Ojibwe is at http://www.geocities.com/bigorrin/chippewa_kids.htm

Some Ojibwe words you might want to include in your report are ...

Jiimaan - Canoe
Boozhoo - Hi
Mii gwech - Thanks
Abwi - Paddle
Zaaga'igan - Lake
Ziibii - River
Eya' - Yes
Gaawiin - No
Ahaw - Ok
Mii iw - That's it

I had a suspicion it was this but I just confirmed it with a website. They used dogs as pack animals & for food. They didn't use horses until they came over here via the European (Mainly Spaniards..)
