I have just recently noticed that a lot of quarterbacks that were drafted into the NFL from college football, and some of them are now wide receivers instead of quarterbacks. (i.e., Marcus Vick, Reggie McNeal, Marques Hagans)?

An NFL QB needs 1) a strong accurate passing arm and 2) the right kind of mind and judgment to read passing defenses and react correctly. The college game is different enough and the athletes less skilled and not as fast, so that a college QB can specialize in being a running QB, or just pass well enough at the college level to get by.

The college QBs who become receivers are those who can't cut it as QBs at pro level, but have the speed and athleticism to become pro wide receivers. Most great college QBs don't even get that chance of course. Another example is Matt Jones at Jacksonville.

i don't think of next years QB draft type would be very solid in any respect. i won't be able to even think of of 5 QB's which will make solid NFL QB's next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. the only 3 i will think of of contain Matt Stafford - Georgia , Pat White - WVU and Chase Daniels - Mizz. people will make a controversy for Tebow, yet he would be not something greater then a college celebrity. As a Bears fan i will say Florida QB's do exactly not artwork out in the NFL. Grossman, Leak (Bears prepare squad) and Danny Weurffel(Heisman winner and NFL bust).

1. Knowledge - college defenses and offenses are much more simplistic than NFL schemes.
2. Arm Strength - In college some QBs aren't asked to throw deep balls, and if they are, they don't have to be as accurate as in the NFL.
3. Size - Vick in particular is small, and it's harder for him to see over the offensive line(there was a good example of this when Seneca Wallace played last Sunday night).

Those are just some of the reasons, but I would say that the metal aspect is the biggest factor and physical ability is second.

These QBs are good athletes, but probably not very good passers.
In college, you can get away with this, but in the NFL, everyone is fast, so a scrambling QB might get chased down.

Other examples are Drew Bennett, Antwaan Randle El, Hines Ward and Ronald Curry.

quarterbacks are the best athletes on the field.
so in HS and college they put them in as QB.
in college they are no longer the best athletes.
better people play qb.
so they need them on the field.
and move them to WR
