2000 Mits Montero Sport. Steering wheel shakes between 50-55 mph. No other time, it doesn't matter if I am accelerating, decelarating or braking. The alignment is correct. The mechanic said the tires are 'out of round' and cannot be balanced. I have Yokohama tires that have nearly all of their tread. No weird tread wear on any of the tires. It seems odd. Also, the anti lock brake light is on, even though the brakes are good. Mechanic said that is a switch problem. Also, the 4 wheel drive indicator is blinking even though I am in 2x4. When I shift into 4x4 it stays lit steady and four wheel drive is engaged.

If the ABS light is on, then it could be that you've lost a piece of the speed sensor ring. That happened to my Subaru. The aluminum rings get fractures and fly apart. Also, the 4x4 light indication tells me that a speed sensor is not working. You should probably force it into FWD to protect the transfer clutch pack. There may be a fuse holder under the hood that says FWD on it. Put a fuse in there...or take the fuse out and that will force it untill you can get to the junk yard and get another ring. Good luck.

As far as the tires, rotate and re balance them. The ABS is probably like stated before a sensor and that could be causing the 4x4 light to come on as well. It could also be as simple as a short under the dash. (Not that that is really simple)
The vibration could also be caused by it BEING in 4x4 at high speeds!!! I would get it checked by another mechanic before serious problems arise

as far as shaking,it could be a number of things, like ball joints, tie rods, alighnment, tires out of balance,or a bent rim.and about the anti-lock brake light, its probably 1 of the sensors in the wheels, check them for corrosian and see if they are tight.

the shaking part sounds right to me, it is either the belts have shifted or the rims have been hit and made out of round. try your local salvage yard to get a replacement rim but be prepared they are not that cheap to replace and as for the four wheel problem, sorry i dont know anything about four wheel drive so i wont speculat on that one and make myself sound foolish and give you bad advice.
