All kinds of transport are available. If you are the daring type, you could take a mini bus taxi! There are other normal taxis too, and busses, although the public transport leaves much to be desired. Car rentals are popular with tourists. The railways are also around, but again, for the daring type, unless you take a fancy tain like the Blue Train or something. There is a new underground railway on it's way aswell (the next few years). South Africa has a very well developed air transportation system, with both major international carriers and low-cost airlines offering routes all though the country and adjacent countries. Small air charter is also readily available.

Primary transportation I saw and utilized while there were small taxies (size of small Toyota), buses (what we know here as a 17 passenger van), and chartered buses (30 passenger with cd, radio, dvd player). We had the chartered bus arranged before we left and it cost approx $3000 for a three wk period for approx. 12+ hours a day. The locals used taxies but most walked and or rode bikes. There were luxury vehicles there (Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus and some of the larger Toyotas). You can also go to the website below for additional information.
