Writers...don't believe me?

Research into the "Real World" series.

There are accounts of the writers putting thoughts into peoples heads to make them fight and have arguments.

Reality.

Depending on the given show, reality TV can be about as real as "The Office." Most are just a heavily-scripted show done in the style of a documentary with shoddy acting and cheap production work. For example, "The Simple Life." Not real at all. It's fake. No point. Whereas, say, "American Idol" is real because they're not trying to manufacture reality; it's as real as the situations in which the contestants are placed. And by the way, for those of you who watch "Flavor of Love," I don't like you as a person.

I think a REAL reality show would be one with hidden cameras, that the people didn't know about ... but of course that's illegal so it's hard to do a real reality show.

I watched a movie a couple years ago, Jim Carrey was in it and it's about his life, and the storyline is that he was born and raised in this fake town which is really a tv set, and people watch him as he grows up with cameras everywhere but he can't see and his town is (to him) just normal life.

Reality TV isn't. If we really treated each other like that in society (voted off the island, you're fired, etc.) our society would be out of control. I just don't feel that we're really that awful towards each other.
