Harry Potter is in a different league to me.
I like the Fowl books, they are imaginative and have some great moments, but are not as able to immerse you in a brilliantly conceived world, with characters whose personality's actually mirror people in creative and entertaining ways as Rowling's.
Fowl has this great way of pointing out the good in most of its characters, amidst their selfishness and moral decay. The fairy world is a wonderful medium for showing human shortcomings from an "outside"perspective. The ides of destroying the planet for one race is silly in the context of these stories, and the humor it allows is really witty.
But Harry Potter can be enjoyed by such a wide range of people. It is true classic, with humor, mystery, life, fun, adventure and real human dilemmas and situations despite its fantasy world. It is so good sometimes I wonder how she does it. The characters seem real, even the world feels likely after a good read. It appeals to so many kind of thinkers. Its world is deep and fun. It is a true masterwork of the craft in my opinion.

Yes - to both, but for different reasons. Artemis Fowl is for a generally older audience, Harry Potter is great for anybody.

They're both good, but I think the Harry Potter series is more complicated on many levels.

Harry Potter, now are we surrounded by witches and wizards? Is there a real Muggles world? Even though this series is fictional(or is it?) it does provoke a thought in me, what if there really is a magical world living along side the Muggles world!

Harry or Edward - Edward, this grew to become into truthfully a problematic one yet i'm to not mad concerning the call Harry except its a nickname. Ronald or Jacob - Jacob, because of the fact it sounds greater attractive and proper to me. Luna or Rosalie - Luna, she grew to become into so quirky and its a attractiveness you do not hear alot. Hermione or Alice - Hermione, back i like uncommon names. Cedric or Emmett - Emmett George or Jasper - George, because of the fact my aunt is termed Georgia. Sirius or Carlisle - Sirius Molly or Esme - Esme Ginevra "Ginny" or Isabella "Bella" - Ginevra, because of the fact Bella is so over used. James or Charlie - Charlie Lily or Jane - Lily, Jane is only to customary for my style. Rose or Renesmee - Renesmee, even with the undeniable fact that i could in no way call a toddler this i like how she blended 2 names mutually to get one call. Albus or Aro - Albus, at the beginning and that's probably obtrusive yet I easily hated Aro. 2d because of the fact I continuously look to verify it with a accessory. Petunia or Renee - Renee, I in no way have enjoyed Petunia for somebody's call.

Harry Potter:
Magical (includes wizards, mythical beings and monsters, etc)
Boy (Harry) + friends (Ron and Hermionie) must defeat evil forces in the wizard world and at school
Full of action and you won't want to put it down
(bit of a longer read)

Artemis Fowl:
Magical (faries, elves, mythical beings, etc)
Genius boy (Artemis) + his butler/bodyguard (Butler) look for impossible wealths using his genius mind
Finds a world of elves, faries, etc and plots to take their riches/secrets, but must later colaborate with them for his benefit
Also full of action so you won't pur it down either!

I recommend you read both books though =)
