You have them up to ten. After that, there is L=50, C=100 M=1000. Bigger than that, I don't know.

The position of the number or letter is logical. You add letters before or after to make the number bigger or smaller. e.g. VI=6. V is 5 and by adding I after it, it becomes 6. Just like 5+1. On the other hand, IV=4 the I comes before the V to show that it is one under 5, so four.

Same for big numbers. 157= CLVII, 100+50+5+2
