I was playing football and I think I pulled it real hard when tackeling my friend. It hurt bad, but I let it go through the night. It is still slightly swollen. The Weird thing is I can bend it fine. Its just when pressure is applied I feel pain at my top joint of the pinky. If I apply pressure at the middle of the finger or the bottom(closest tword my hand it dosent hurt at all.

Do you think its broken, or just sprained(if you can do it to a pinky)
I couldnt pick up a vollyball today at school because of the pain at the tip.

Please answer.

Ps: I have a hockey game this friday. Should I just try and wrap it up and play. Im on my schools Varsity team and I start...(center) :)

I have broken a bunch of fingers most of them playing hockey I think wrapping up the finger should help but it will still probably hurt, You play hockey, well this isn't the last time you will be told to suck it up, my coaches told me that so many times for so many broken bones that I just stopped saying anything. Good Luck! CHIX DIG SCARS! lol

Dudee... I have the exact same problem, except my pinky bent back while I was break dancing. Mine hurts at the base more than the top because of how it bent back, but I'm pretty sure it isn't broken. It swelled up like a mother though. I went to the drug store, talked to the pharmacist about what type of treatments I could use: he said the only thing I could do was stabalize is with a splint ($5 at any drug store). He also said that it should heal in a few days, and if it doesn't, I should get it x-rayed for any breaks. The best thing for you, since you have hockey right now, is go to the doctor if possible, and if not, just get a splint and wear that around until it heals or you get a change to get it checked. I hope this heals quickly, my coach wants me back on the courts ASAP. ;)

It sounds like its just sprained becuase you said you can bend it. Sometimes sprains are more painful than a break. I would go ahead and play this Friday, but put a splint on your pinky for the rest of the week. Take a popsicle stick and measure it from the bottom of your palm and alittle above the tip of your pinky and tape it around your pinky and the finger next to it. Use ice and take Tylenol for pain. Good luck with your game :))

i really think you should get it checked out by a doctor soon. i happen to have sprained my pinky really badly and since i didnt take good care of it, now, (that was like 4 years ago) my bone is a little swollen and nothing can be done with it. it doesn't hurt anymore but it looks really weird. if you don't want this to happen to you also, i highly suggest you get it checked! =D

My brother broke my pinky and I had to go to a specialist because they were afraid of it not healing correctly. I couldn't go to the last appointment because of weather and now my pinky is still fat, crooked and whenever the weather changes it hurts badly. I don't think that it healed properly.

Go to the Dr. A.S.A.P to get your finger X-rayed to see if it is broken or not.
