In almost all circumstances, two male betas would kill each other if put in the same tank as each other, especially in such a small tank. Females are not deadly aggressive like males and can live together in groups.
Let me also stress that even though betas can "survive" in small tanks, it is a horrible life for them and will be a lot more work for you to maintain the tank and keep the beta healthy. The whole reason betas can survive in smaller tanks is because they have an organ that allows them to breathe surface air and they do not require a surface air exchange. They still produce waste though and a larger tank with a filter would provide much better water conditions and would require less maintenance on your part. I would suggest getting a 10 dollar glass 2.5 gallon tank and a 10 dollar Red Sea Nano filter. The whole tank setup would be a little over 20 dollars and is only a foot long by a half foot wide. The filter is quiet too and will replace super frequent water changes. Your betta(s) would thank you for it.
Think about it, would you like to live in a closet for your whole life? Sure, with food and care you would "survive" but would you be happy?

That is not even one gallon! Each fish needs at least a gallon per inch of body length. You should also have a filter and heater for them. They are tropical fish from S.E. Asia and need temps of around 78-82 degrees. Their lives are shortened drastically with lower temps. In the wild, they live 5-6 years. Most people brag about having them for 3 years........
I hope they are not both males, you will only have one shortly. If one is a female, the male will kill her if she is not in condition to spawn. In the wild, bettas are solitary fish and do not come into contact with other bettas unless they are in condition and ready to breed.

Yes- it is harmful, regardless of the sexes of the fish.
Male/male: Will most certainly attack each other, and leave at least one of them dead.
Male/female: The male will either kill the female, or they will mate and then be agressive towards each other.
Female/female: That size tank is way too small, and if you want to keep females together you need to keep groups of 6 or more in a large tank.

They shouldn't do anything. Betta's are ment to live in small spaces. When they are out in the wild they live in little puddles.
