I love thoroughbreds. They are so athletic, tall and handsome with beautifully defined heads. But more then anything, I love the fire in their eyes and the undying spirit in their souls. With every step they seem so confident and posed, like they know they're gorgeous. I find it amazing that animals of such beauty and spirit interact with humans at all. Thoroughbreds are also amazing riding horses once they learn to trust humans.

I have many favorites and it really depends what I am using the horse for. I compete in several diciplines (i.e. dressage, hunter/jumper, reining, barrel racing). If you are looking for a horse, I would first look at what you plan to do with a horse. While a dutch warmblood is great over fences, they tend not to be so great at barrel racing. But out of all the horses and different sports. My true favorite breed is a 1/2 Arabian 1/2 Quarter horse. These horses are extremely well rounded and can be used for many different disciplines. My Arabian/Quarter mix is what I call a "Jack of all trades and a King of none". While he'll never be a world champion in any one sport, he is the most diversified and can compete in the most variety of sports. He has the strength, muscle and level headedness of a quarter horse. As well as the stamina, indurance and passion of an Arabian. The two breeds complete each other very well. I have done almost every type of riding style with him, including dressage, barrel racing, team penning, 3-day eventing and trail patrol. And I've had the most fun with him. My gelding is 16 y/o now and I know that I can take him anywhere and pretty much do anything with him. I personally would rather have a "jack of all trades" horse. Than a champion grad prix horse that I can't take to the local parade.

If you are looking to buy a horse. I would suggest a mix breed over a pure breed and I would focus more on the horses personality traits than its training. You can always train a horse new or more skills. But the horse's personality sticks with them for the most part.

Morgans! I have owned and ridden many breeds in the last 17 years - Appys, National Show Horses, Saddlebreds, Quarter Horses, Arabians, Fresians and many mixed breeds, but from the day I got my first Morgan I knew that was the breed I loved. They are so versatile. My gelding has been a local and regional champion show horse (in MANY different disciplines such as hunt seat, side saddle, pleasure driving and western pleasure), and he is also a family horse that my kids ride. I have trail ridden with him, competed at the regional level, given lessons, hauled fire wood - everything - all with one horse. All my other Morgans are so versatile as well, and they have wonderful sweet personalities and beautiful looks as well. If you can only have one horse, and you like to participate in various activities (or you are just starting to ride and you are not sure what style of riding you want to do), then a Morgan would make a great horse for you. Besides, if you get a Morgan then you will have a true AMERICAN breed of horse.

That's probably the easiest question to answer... but it has two parts! First of all, I am absolutely in love with Friesians! They are an amazingly beautiful, smooth moving, large horse, that encaptures everything that a little girl's dream horse could be. The second part is paints, mainly because of their colouration, but also becaue the love of my life, Kokanee is a paint, and I wouldn't trade her for the world!

I have a few favorites. Arabians are one, but not all... I've had my Arab gelding for 14 of his 16 years and he's awesome! I love Quarter Horses and Paints, they are so versatile and I love their huge hindquarters. And Ponies have a soft spot in my heart, I've always had a pony on the property... they are so naughty, but so cute.

Well if you are getting a horse, any horse can be the best!!! Some people may say quarter horses are nice and others say they are bad. Same with arabs. I have one 1/4 warmblood 3/4 thoroughbred, one throughbred (100%!!!), and a black and white paint. I payed for all 3 (they were over $100,000 EACH) and i still am paying for them all, and you think so wut? well i am a teen!!! Under 16! But my horses follow me any where i go.. with out any halters of lead ropes, any horse can be a great one, it just depends on the owner.
