A month ago I got my nostril pierced.... It's been going great up until a few days ago. The past couple of days it's been getting red and really sore. I kinda squeezed on it tonite and liquid came out. I think that its getting infected but I'm not sure what to do. I would appreciate any suggestions.....
By the way..... I did have it done professionaly in a clean and reputable place. Thanks

Two very important things right away.
1) Call your piercer and get their recommendations and if you have the opportunity to drop in the shop to have them take a look at it, please do.
2) DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide AT ALL.

Anybody on here can tell you that they're a doctor, a nurse, a piercer, or Albert Einstein...you have no way of knowing . Please, call a live human being with relevant credentials...your piercer.

Hi! I've had just about everything pierced so I know what you're going through. You should definelty clean everyday at least twice a day with peroxide or even that solution they sell at ear piercing places. Your body isn't used to the foreign object in your body, so it will take a few weeks for the soreness and redness to go away. You could also be allergic to the type of ring placed in your nose. I have a terrible sensitivity to silver and stainless steel. I can only used solid girl (eek! very expensive). If it doesn't start to get better in about 2 weeks, then see a dr. to rule out anything serious. Good Luck!

I have my nose pierced also. First, quit pinching and sqeezing your piercing. Clean your piercing several times a day with a mixture of sea salt (can get at any store) and water. Don't touch or play with your piercing as this will infect it further. Don't take your piercing out as this will push more bacteria inside it. After several days of salt water cleanings your infection should be gone if not improved greatly.

i'd say its probably infected, or you're allergic to the metal the post is made of. If it's infected, clean it with hydrogen peroxide twice a day and it should clear up in a week or so. If you're allergic to the metal, go to a jewelry store and look for posts made of titanium... i dont know anyone that's allergic to titanium, and it's used in jewelry (the only bad thing is that titanium jewelry is usually a bit expensive)

good luck :-)

Sounds like you have a subsequent infection.
You'll want to get some antiseptic (ie Neosporin) on it for the next week, minimum. Keep applying it even if the swelling and soreness leaves.

I'm presuming the swelling and such is low now. If the swelling, soreness, or puss increases you should see a doctor for stronger medications.

My nose is like that all the time just use the sea salt that they gave you. And try and not put your fingers on it because of the bacteria our hands hold. I would say just try and keep it clean.

i am a nurse, you need to clean it with iodine if your not allergic then after that with hydro peroxide. that should help. if it doesnt then u might need to go see a doctor.
