I would talk to both of my parents about the things this woman is saying. It really sounds as if she is trying to get rid of you as a student by saying all these terrible things to you. I'm not sure why your parents are willing to subject you to these ugly comments about them. And I sure wouldn't pay someone who says those things to my child! I hate to say it, but if you have to, you may have to tell your parents you would rather quit playing violin than have to deal with this woman. I wish you luck. You don't deserve to be treated like this!

her being russian has nothing to do with it, she's just a bigot. If you are really learning from her, keep going, but tell her God made us in all different colors so we could enjoy each other. It would be boring if we were all the same color. She's the one with the problem, and dont let it bother you. Just blow off her remarks because you know better. Feel sorry for her, because she's missing so much by being a bigot. Having hatred does not hurt the person you hate, but it eats slowly away at your own soul.

There must be more than one good teacher in your area. Convince your mom that your teacher's attitude is affecting your playing. And it probably is. By the way, in mentioning that your teacher is Russian, you, too are being racist. We don't give a crap about her origin and neither should you.

honey you may not be trying to be but she is. she is a racist. and your mom wants you to learn how to handle people like her. you will encounter them throughout your life. and it is best to learn how to work with them now than when they are your boss, employee, co-worker or family. So remind this wonderful gifted teacher that sometimes words can be unkind. never go down to her level and if nothing else you will learn never to be like her

Sounds like maybe the teacher is trying to lose your business. How good is she going to teach you anyway if she hates your ethnic group(s)?

i think you should talk to your parents with this issue. it might be hard at first but you must tell them!! unless you want to continue to hear these racist comments that your teacher makes, talk to them as soon as possible. if they can't help you, talk to someone who will, for instance your school consellor!! =D
