Well, you could write about your decision to work full time after high school, the experience you gained and why you changed your mind and decided to apply to college. This could make a really good personal essay especially if you talk about what you learned from this experience and how you'll apply it to your student life at Eastern.

You could also write about why you want to go to Eastern...does it have a specific program you're interested in, the student life, the campus, etc.

Or, talk about what makes you unique and how you'll bring diversity or a fresh perspective to Eastern.

Personally, I think talking about your year off school to work would make the best essay because it's the most personal and is a good opportunity to impress the admissions officer with talking about how the experience has made you grow as a person.

Anyways, good luck and hope this helps!

(1) Ask three friends or coworkers, bosses or teachers, to write a letter of recommendation for you based on your best skills, talents and achievements. Then take three of their best points and use those in your essay.
(2) What achievements are you most proud of? What obstacles have you overcome? What have you learned from those? What interests do you plan to pursue and what do you think you want for a career? For ideas, pick up the manual "What Color is Your Parachute" by Dr. Richard Bolles, which is a great reference to have for career building. This book is filled with helpful exercises and charts that may help you put your best experiences and skills into words, to explain why you believe you will succeed at your goals.
(3) What advantages would you bring to the school as a student?
What contributions have you made to clubs or the community?
(4) Have your former English teacher proofread your essay for you. Get a second and third opinion.
