The lowercase "i" redirects here. This article is about a letter. For other uses, see I (disambiguation).
Due to MediaWiki's uppercase algorithm, ı, the lowercase dotless i, redirects here.
The letter I is the ninth letter in the Latin alphabet. Its English name is pronounced [aɪ].
History-
In Semitic, the letter Yôdh was probably originally a pictogram for an arm with hand, derived from a similar hieroglyph that had the value of a voiced pharyngeal fricative (/Ê/) in Egyptian, but was reassigned to /j/ (as in English "yoke") by Semites, because their word for "arm" began with that sound. This letter could also be used for the vowel sound /i/, mainly in foreign words.
The Greeks adopted a form of this Phoenician yodh as their letter iota (Î, ι). It stood for the vowel /i/, the same as in the Old Italic alphabet. In Latin (as in Modern Greek), it was also used for the consonant sound of /j/. The modern letter J was originally a variation of this letter, and both were interchangeably used for both the vowel and the consonant, only coming to be differentiated in the 16th century.
In modern English, I represents different sounds, mainly a "long" diphthong /aɪ/, that developed from Middle English /iË/ after the Great Vowel Shift of the 15th century, as well as the "short", open /ɪ/ as in "bill". The dot over the lowercase 'i' is sometimes called a tittle. In the Turkish alphabet, dotted and dotless I are considered separate letters and both have uppercase (I, Ä°) and lowercase (ı, i) forms..

I is something too complex for to understand now...but conciousness, identity, as well as your understanding...as your great philosopher once said in the 60's...when you understand something, you make that which you understand part of you...and you become one---this unity, is part of the i....but not all information is available to you....some is inherently hidden. Therefore, only God can know all, and therefore be all...therefore i...is the aproximation of the individual to TAO...ironically, as someone seeks more the undefined, the more defined he/she becomes...yet the more lost for TAO they shall be, for they will know more of how much they do not know and might exist, in the great realm, of possiblity, of TAO

"I"
is how one represents his ownself.....
otherwise,
we have lots of definitions.
like we are only souls &
Vedas says,
'Aham Brahmasmi'
means, 'I myself is God"
that's true but all the people don't know
or don't want to know & understand it.
so simply,
what u are , what u want to be, & what u can be
is "I".
