Wondering if anyone might know what the problem is, just a guess, I don’t want to take it to the local dealership because they over charge, which kind of auto shop should I go to in order to get it fixed?? like an auto shop attached to a gas station?? Or some other shop?? Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't take it to anybody but the dealer for this type of problem. If another shop gets in there and isn't PERFECTLY familiar with the system, the air bag can go off the next time you hit a bump or even turn a corner.

If it were me , I would call the manufacturer of the Jeep Grand
Cherokee, or a repair shop for Jeep Cherokees
Call several shops to see who will give you the best deal

I had a similar problem with my mazda pickup. I noticed that the light came on after the passenger seat was moved all the way back. There are wire connectors under that seat. I made sure that they were clean and tight and it hasn't happened since.
