Hi :), Registered Nurse here; Sweetheart sounds like your stressing, now lets review what you've experienced and you try and CALM DOWN, your making me nervous, LOL! just kidding, hope to use a little humor to calm you down. You've been to the Doctor twice, the second visit the doctor told you, no pregnancy. Okay sweetie, I would say you are not pregnant. Now for that Nasty UTI, oh gosh they can make you so very sick at your stomach, and so can the antibiotics to used to clear the UTI up. You didn't mention the name of the antibiotic, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess perhaps, Cipro, or Septra, Bacterium. Livaquin , Bextra, could be dozens of others. Dear, I don't think your pregnant, most physicians check the urine for pregnancy anytime they do a urine analysis, for this very reason, young productive females many times are not aware of there pregnancy. Think you just need to keep taking the antibiotics, drink plenty of fluid, and about 3 days you should be back on the rapid road of recovery.
Thanks for the opportunity to address your question. I do hope this relives some of your stress.

So the doc told you twice that you aren't pregnant and put you on antibiotics for a UTI. A home test will not pick up anything that a Dr may have missed, actually a blood test at the Dr's office is a better test then a home urine test. You probably still have a UTI. In association with antibiotics you should be drinking lots and lots of water, taking cranberry and cinnamon extract (the cranberry will help clean out your urinary tract and the cinnamon will help keep the bacteria/yeast levels proper inside you) and go to the bathroom every time you feel like you have to, even if it's just a drop coming out. Go back to the Dr and tell him/her what you told us. The meds he/she gave you may not be strong enough.

I'm glad you've been to see a doctor before consulting the internet. Please be aware that random people on the internet cannot give you better medical advice than a professional who had to attend school for at least 8 years, possibly more, in order to get where he/she is today. Go back to the doctor and talk to them about your concerns. If you want to, take a pregnancy test beforehand, it can never hurt. If you feel embarrassed returning to the same doctor about the same thing so often, see a different doctor.

Remember that you should never feel dumb for being concerned about your health. If you think there's something wrong there probably could be. Women's intuition is a real thing. Do not just disregard this, it is possible that you have a serious medical condition.

I wish you the best of luck.

You should see a doctor to determine if your UTI has cleared up. Sometimes it takes more medication or a different medication to get rid of it entirely. This is not something that can be diagnosed over the internet. If the doctors told you you're not pregnant, and you are having periods, then it's extremely unlikely that you would be pregnant. My personal opinion is that a pregnancy test is a waste of your money after you've already been examined and tested by a doctor.

The Internet is okay to do generalized medical research, but can not diagnose your specific problems.

You can get a second opinion if you do not feel comfortable with the diagnose. A UTI can give some bad symptoms but it's better to be safe than sorry. Pregnancy tests aren't very expensive and if it will give you a peace of mind it's worth every penny. If you are not then maybe you should consider a better contraceptive before you decide to be sexually active. Then you won't have to worry so much in the future.
Good luck!

When your doctor did the pregnancy test, did he or she take blood and urine to have them both tested? The blood test is the most accurate way of checking your hormone levels and determining if you are pregnant or not.

For the UTI, even though the meds dont seem to work, keep taking them until they are completely finished. It can take a couple of weeks for the medicine to take affect.

If you are still concerned, you can go to a different doctor for a second opinion. If they test you and the results are negative, then you are not pregnant. I would recommend you get on birth control for yourself as added protection.

Hope this helps :-)

What are you....13 years old?

You had and probably still have a urinary tract infection UTI. You need some additional or different antibiotics to completely eliminate the bacteria from your system.

Go back to your doctor, preferably a good ob/gyn, and get your problem evaluated professionally instead of with Yahoo Answers.

Blood in the urine will NOT affect the results of a pregnancy test. THe pregnancy test is looking for high levels of hormone. UTI can take a couple of weeks to totally get rid of.. You might want to check with the doctor again, and they may have to prescribe something different if your not getting any relief with what your taking now...Good home treatment for UTI, is cranberry juice... Or beer...

The soreness could be the infection spreading up into you bladder or kidney(s). Most likely you are pg. Go back to the doctor and tell them the symptoms are still present, they will then provide you a second antibiotic. The symptoms will most likely clear up. This happened to me about two months ago, it seems it isn't that uncommon to need a second round of antibiotics, as said by my doc.

Sometime antibiotics affects the amount and duraton of menstrual flow, plus if you have your menstraul period already meaning that you are not pregnant, having UTI sometimes gives you backpain, nausea, difficulty of urination etc. Pregnancy signs and symptoms are absence of your menstrual period, nausea & vomiting, sometimes lower back pain, and body ache, out of the moods and others, dep ends sometimes on individual's body mechanism, on how your body react in your body changes. In my opinion based on your statement you are NOT PREGNANT , so no use if you are going to use pregnancy test. It is useful if you missed your period and been sexually active . Hope I gave you the answer that you need to know
