I have flat feet and I have always had trouble with them. I have been having a continuous problem with my ankles. When I am on my feet for at least 3 hours at time my ankles hurt so bad I could hardly stand. It hurts at my joint under my inner ankles. They dont bruise and they only get a little swollen but I have to stand on my feet for 8 hours a day in agony. I have tried different kinds of shoes and nothing works. The pain is sooo terrible its amazing I can even walk. When I sit down for a while or I come home and rest then stand up after being on them so long the pain is even stronger. I tore my ACL when I was 14 years old (now 20) and my doctor told me that I have really lose joints. Could this be why. They hurt more and more each day. What could this be? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is an exercise you can do to strengthen the arch in your foot, and take the pressure off your ankles. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. One foot at a time, try to draw the toe knuckles up and hold as long as you can. Repeat about 20 times on each foot. I had problems with dropped metatarsals ( flat feet). It affected my ankles badly and this exercise really sorted the ankle pain out.

I don't know what your monetary situation/insurance situation is. My experience has told me to evaluate how you are standing. Your weight balance could be off. This could be helped with orthotics. These are expensive inserts that are custom-made for your feet. They provide YOUR feet with the support they need. Another suggestion is to talk to your doctor and get a referraly to see a physical therapist to get some ankle strengthening exercises that can help you be on your feet for longer periods of time.

If possible, get your weight down for your recommended height, get your junk food intake down to a minimum, eat as much fruit as you can to keep your joints lubricated. If possible, keep your stress level down, because stress amplifies pain. If possible, stay away from prescription drugs, they make your bones weak, just like soda pop.
